Our scrap yard is where a load of metal turns into a fair, verified payout. We are a licensed scrap yard on the, and we buy, grade, weigh and pay for scrap ourselves — no middlemen and no waiting on a third-party recycler. Whether you are a homeowner clearing a garage, a plumber or electrician offloading offcuts, a builder after a demolition, or a factory running a full clearance, this page explains exactly what to expect when you deal with us: what we buy, how we grade and weigh, how we pay, and how to visit the yard or book a collection.
Quick Facts & Key Takeaways
- Where we are: — open Monday to Friday 8:00am to 6:00pm and Saturday 8:00am to 3:00pm, closed Sundays and public holidays.
- We buy direct: copper, brass, aluminium, stainless steel, steel and iron, lead, zinc, tungsten and carbide, lead-acid batteries, e-waste and catalytic converters — priced per kilogram on grade and weight.
- Our own weighbridge: every load is graded and weighed on our own calibrated scales, so the figure you are paid matches exactly what you delivered.
- Same-day EFT, not cash: the Second-Hand Goods Act prohibits cash for scrap, so we pay by electronic transfer — bring a valid SA ID or passport and proof of address.
- We collect too: for bulkier loads we arrange collection; smaller loads are welcome at the yard during opening hours.
- Sort for a better rate: clean, separated metal — copper, brass and aluminium kept apart, cable stripped — always earns more than a mixed, contaminated load.
What we buy at our yard
We take the full range of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap. On the non-ferrous side that means copper (bright wire, tubing, motor and mixed), brass, aluminium (sheet, extrusion, cast and cans), stainless steel, zinc and lead. On the ferrous side we buy heavy melting steel, light and sheet steel, cast iron and turnings by the kilogram, and by the ton for bulk. We also handle lead-acid batteries, e-waste and PC boards, tungsten carbide tooling, catalytic converters (quoted per unit on their precious-metal content) and complete or accident-damaged scrap cars. If you are not sure whether we take something, send us a photo and we will tell you. How a sale works, step by step
Selling to us is deliberately simple and transparent:
- Weigh-in. You arrive at the yard, or we collect your load. We check what you have and separate it by metal and grade.
- Grade. Clean, sorted metal grades higher and pays more; paint, oil, moisture and attachments pull a load down a grade, so preparation matters.
- Weighbridge. Your load is weighed on our own calibrated weighbridge — the verified weight is what you are paid on, with nothing shaved off.
- Payout. We apply the current per-kilogram rate for each grade, total the load, and pay you by same-day EFT.

Visiting the yard
You are welcome to bring scrap straight to the yard at during our opening hours — Monday to Friday 8:00am to 6:00pm and Saturday 8:00am to 3:00pm. Please bring a valid SA ID or passport and proof of address, which we are required to record under the Second-Hand Goods Act before we can pay you. If your load is heavy or awkward to move, contact us first and we will advise on the easiest way to handle it.
Collection
For bulk loads, factory clearances and anything too heavy to transport, we come to you. We collect from and the wider — including — and we bring the right equipment for the job, from a bakkie load to a full industrial clearance. See the full list of areas we serve or request a collection.
Fair, transparent pricing you can check
Scrap rates move daily with the London Metal Exchange and the rand exchange rate, so we price on current market rates and confirm the final figure by graded weight on the weighbridge. The rates on our price pages are indicative guidance to help you plan, not a fixed quote — the number you are paid is set when your metal is graded and weighed. We keep the process open: you can watch the weigh-in, and every payout is recorded.
Compliance you can rely on
Business registration and dealer credentials must be confirmed before trading. That means we record every transaction, require identification and proof of address, and pay by EFT rather than cash — protections that keep both sides safe and keep stolen metal out of the trade. Frequently asked questions
Where is your scrap yard and when are you open?
We are at, on the. We are open Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm and Saturday from 8:00am to 3:00pm, and closed on Sundays and public holidays. You can drop off scrap during those hours or book a collection.
Do I need to book, or can I just arrive?
For a normal load you can simply arrive at the yard during opening hours — no appointment needed. If you have a bulk load, a factory clearance or something heavy to move, contact us first so we can arrange a collection and bring the right equipment.
How do you decide what my scrap is worth?
We pay per kilogram, based on the metal and its exact grade, weighed on our own calibrated weighbridge. Copper and brass pay the most per kilogram; steel and iron pay less but make it up by volume. Clean, sorted metal earns the top of the range, and rates move daily with the LME and the rand.
How and when do you pay?
We pay by same-day EFT straight into your bank account — we do not pay cash, because the Second-Hand Goods Act prohibits cash for scrap. You will need a valid SA ID or passport and proof of address before we can process the payment.
Do you collect, or do I have to deliver?
Both. You are welcome to bring your scrap to the yard, and for bulkier loads we arrange collection. Larger or pre-sorted loads are usually easiest to quote and collect.
