Quick answer
We buy scrap radiators (copper/brass and aluminium) and scrap aluminium and mag alloy rims at our yard, priced on the metal inside — copper and brass radiators pay the most, clean aluminium rims pay well by weight. We weigh and grade every load on a verified weighbridge and pay by same-day EFT. Strip plastic tanks and tyres for the best rate.

If you have old radiators or a set of alloy or mag wheels taking up space, we buy both for scrap at our yard. Radiators and rims are some of the more valuable everyday scrap because of the copper, brass and aluminium in them — so it pays to know what you have before you sell.
We buy directly, weigh every load on a verified weighbridge, and pay by same-day EFT. Whether it is a single radiator out of a car or a pile of aluminium rims from a workshop, we quote on the metal, grade and weight in front of us.
Quick Facts & Key Takeaways
- We buy scrap radiators (copper/brass and aluminium) and scrap aluminium and mag alloy wheels/rims at our yard.
- Value comes from the metal inside: copper/brass radiators pay more than aluminium ones; clean aluminium rims pay well by weight.
- We grade and weigh every load individually on a verified weighbridge; contamination (plastic tanks, steel centres, tyres, valves) is deducted.
- Payment is by same-day EFT, not cash, under the Second-Hand Goods Act.
- Sort and clean where you can — a stripped, sorted load earns more than a mixed one.
Radiators we buy
Radiators are worth different amounts depending on what they are made of:
- Copper/brass radiators — older car radiators, and many industrial and air-conditioning coils, are copper with brass tanks. These are the highest-value radiators because copper and brass are the top-paying common metals.
- Aluminium/plastic radiators — most modern car radiators are aluminium with plastic end tanks. The aluminium is worth good money by weight once the plastic and any steel brackets are removed.
- Aluminium condensers and intercoolers — clean aluminium that grades with the rest of your aluminium.
Because prices move with the daily market, we quote on the day. For current per-kilogram figures see our scrap metal prices — copper and brass radiators are priced on their copper/brass content, and aluminium radiators on the aluminium.
Alloy and mag wheels/rims we buy
Aluminium alloy and mag wheels are essentially clean cast aluminium, which is a solid earner by weight:
- Aluminium alloy / mag rims — bought by weight as cast aluminium. Remove the tyre first where you can; a rim with the tyre still on is graded down because we have to strip and dispose of the tyre.
- Steel rims — bought as scrap steel (much lower per kilogram than aluminium, but still worth bringing in with a load).
We buy rims for their scrap metal value — we are a scrap yard, not a wheel dealer, so we do not resell or refit wheels. If a rim is only good as metal, that is exactly what we pay for.
How to get the best price
A little preparation lifts your payout:
- Strip radiators where practical — separate copper/brass radiators from aluminium ones, and pull off plastic tanks and steel brackets.
- Remove tyres from rims before you bring them, so the aluminium grades clean.
- Keep metals separated — don't mix copper radiators in with aluminium rims; each grades and pays differently.
- Bring everything together — even the lower-value steel adds to the total once it's on the weighbridge.
How selling works
- Tell us what you have — the type of radiators or rims, roughly how many or how heavy, and where or the you are. A WhatsApp photo helps.
- We quote on the metal and grade you describe, against the current market.
- We weigh and grade every load individually on a verified weighbridge, with any contamination deducted openly.
- We pay by same-day EFT — bring a valid SA ID or passport and proof of address (required under the Second-Hand Goods Act).
For larger volumes we can arrange collection; see sell scrap metal to us or the aluminium prices and copper prices pages for the metals radiators and rims are graded on.
Frequently asked questions
Are copper radiators worth more than aluminium ones?
Yes. Copper/brass radiators are priced on their copper and brass content, which pays more per kilogram than aluminium. Older cars and many industrial and air-conditioning coils use copper/brass; most modern car radiators are aluminium.
Do I have to remove the plastic tanks and tyres?
You don't have to, but it helps your payout. Plastic tanks on radiators and tyres on rims are contamination we have to strip and dispose of, so an unstripped item is graded down. A clean, stripped item grades and pays higher.
Do you buy mag and alloy wheels?
Yes — for their scrap aluminium value, by weight. We are a scrap yard, so we buy them as metal; we don't resell or refit wheels.
How do you pay, and what do I need to bring?
By same-day EFT once the load is weighed and graded — no cash, per the Second-Hand Goods Act. Bring a valid SA ID or passport and proof of address.
What are radiators and rims worth today?
It depends on the metal, the grade and the current market. Check our scrap metal prices for today's per-kilogram ranges, or send us a photo and rough weight for an indicative figure — the final amount is set on our weighbridge.
