PAIA Manual
Last updated: July 2026
1. Introduction
This manual is published under section 51 of the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 ("PAIA"). It explains what records Reclaim Metal Traders holds and how you may request access to them. Reclaim Metal Traders provides scrap metal price guidance, quote handling and collection support and nearby areas.
2. Contact details (Information Officer)
Requests for access to information may be directed to the Information Officer:
- Entity: Reclaim Metal Traders
- Email: reclaimetaltraders@mail.com
3. The Information Regulator
You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (), which oversees PAIA and POPIA. Their guides and the prescribed PAIA request forms are available from the Regulator. Confirm the current contact details at inforegulator.org.za before submitting.
4. Categories of records held
The website and business hold the following broad categories of records. Not all records are automatically available — access is subject to the grounds for refusal in PAIA.
- Records about the business itself — registration, tax and financial records.
- Quote-request and enquiry records submitted through the website (name, contact details, area, scrap details), handled per our Privacy Policy and POPIA.
- Website, hosting, analytics and cookie-consent records.
- Correspondence with users about quote requests, collections, payments and compliance.
- Legal, compliance and policy documents (terms, privacy, disclaimers).
Operational records such as weighbridge tickets, payment confirmations and compliance documents are handled according to the applicable transaction and legal record-keeping requirements.
5. How to request access
- Complete the prescribed PAIA request form and email it to the Information Officer at the address above.
- Identify the record(s) you want and the form of access required, and provide enough detail for us to find them.
- Give a contact address, and state the right you are seeking to exercise where the request relates to your own personal information.
- A request fee and access fee may be payable as prescribed under PAIA; we will let you know before proceeding.
- We will respond within 30 days as required by PAIA (this period may be extended in the circumstances the Act allows).
6. Grounds for refusal
Access may be refused on the grounds set out in Chapter 4 of PAIA — for example to protect another person's privacy, third-party commercial information, or records that are legally privileged. Where we refuse a request we will give reasons and explain your right to complain to the Information Regulator or to apply to court.
